Creating New Speakers and Teachers
The Institute of Native Knowledge was established in 1989 to provide insights into aspects of native knowledge and especially the World Renewal philosophy of northwestern California. Contemporary native art, storytelling, and convening cultural gatherings were important Institute activities. Today, 36 years later, our mission remains the same, while our methods have changed immensely.

Fâat Panukupítih-Programs
The Institute consists of three major areas of focus. Traditional culture is the foundation for all of the Institute’s work; Araráhih Kich! strives to create new speakers and teachers while the goal of the Master Apprentice program combines master speakers with young native people. We are now working with our 3rd generation of young people since we began this journey. Most of our founding elders have passed, yet the vitality and resilience of our young people keeps our mission moving forward.

Blog-Ikxáree
The work of restoring a culture results in many stories and adventures. Some stories are poignant, some hilarious, but always there is a message of positive change and cultural resilience. Our blog, called Ikxáree (the News) will seek out and present some of these stories as we journey on our path towards reasserting our place on this earth.
